Position Overview:

The Internal Audit Department for Aegon Asset Management (GAAM) is an established global internal audit department with headquarters in The Netherlands and additional teams operating in the UK and US. The Chief Audit Executive AAM who is located in The Netherlands leads this team. The job holder will report to the US Audit Manager and work with colleagues within the global audit team.

The purpose of the Internal Auditor role is to perform audits and participate in the delivery of internal audit services to Aegon Asset Management (AAM) entities in the US and other countries in keeping with the annual internal audit plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of risk-based audit plans
  • Delivery of risk-based audit services in accordance with agreed scope and objectives
  • Perform all auditing tasks such as audit planning and preparation, work program development, fieldwork, presentation of audit findings, and audit reporting
  • Participate in special projects and reports (e.g. fraud investigations; global theme audits)
  • Contribute to the continuous professional development of the global audit department
  • Assist with preparation and delivery of various audit status and progress reports

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or management information systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong documentation skills and willingness to develop technical auditing skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members and internal clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or related certifications.
  • Knowledge of Internal Audit standards and/or experience in leading and delivering audit assignments
  • Prior financial industry experience, preferably in asset/investment management
  • Prior international, cross-cultural experience and working with remote teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

Working Conditions

  • Domestic and international travel (10-20%)
