MRM//McCann Media is seeking a strong leader, collaborator and mentor to lead both our Paid Search and Programmatic Teams. The candidate must have extensive experience in the day to day management of paid search campaigns as well as the ability to establish search strategy for clients and integrate search into overall channel mixes

In addition, this position will require a deep technical knowledge of programmatic buying and the entire campaign management process, to strengthen and develop our programmatic media offering. At MRM//McCann, programmatic experts are embedded within tight-knit, account-focused media teams that typically consist of cross-channel strategists and planners/buyers, as well as social and search experts.

Team members gain exposure to a wide variety of marketing programs due to a well-established “sharing” culture while increasing depth of experience in key focus areas (e.g., programmatic, social).

Job Description

The Director of Biddable Media should be an advocate for programmatic and search; enthusiastic about what the future holds and successfully leading clients into it. The Director will monitor search and programmatic marketing trends and developments, related to investment, channels, technology, data, privacy, ad verification, attribution modeling, et al. and will share this; ensuring that our team is among the first to know and to consider pilots.

Candidates must have a successful track record of using data and tech to address complex challenges; e.g., cluttered categories, many stakeholders and long decision-making processes. The Director will be an expert problem-solver; applying creativity and deep knowledge of what’s possible within biddable media, to suggest solutions or hypotheses to be tested.

Core Responsibilities

    • Develop trust and confidence among our senior management and department heads
    • Educate clients, whose degree of understanding of programmatic media and search varies
    • Co-develop a training and development curriculum
    • Optimize processes and documentation
    • Review performance and consult with teams on optimization
    • Co-represent the programmatic and search discipline during each brand’s annual planning phase
    • Consistently delight clients with new ideas, ranging from tactical to game-changing
    • Ensure quality, creativity and integrity of all services provided
    • Oversee the programmatic and search teams who are responsible for the day-to-day operations for multiple clients
    • Synchronize with SEO efforts to optimize channel performance
    • Manage publisher and vendor relationships



  • Required experience
    • 10+ years in media with a focus on search
    • 5+ years programmatic
    • Experience with:
      • Considered purchases/services
      • Brand-building and direct-response goals
      • Variety of measurement – e.g., ad effectiveness studies, digital media metrics, media mix analyses
      • Brand safety, viewability, and bot fraud solutions
      • New business
  • Desired, but not required:
    • Global media management
    • Pharma (DTC, HCP), education, finance
    • Dynamic creative, rich media (Google DRM)
    • Attribution modeling (Visual IQ, DataXu, GA360)
  • Tools & Software: Google platforms of primary importance; others, secondary
    • Ad serving, tagging, tracking and analysis (DCM)
    • Marin, Kenshoo
    • DSPs (Google DBM, Adobe/Tube Mogul, Amazon)
    • Site-side tracking platforms (Google Analytics)
    • Soft Skills:
      • Strong time management; able to juggle many tasks concurrently
      • Ability to see the big picture (i.e., across disciplines, across channels)
      • Exceptional verbal/written communication
      • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
