Department of Revenue/ West Virginia Lottery/ Security/Statewide – Under general supervision of the Deputy Director for Security at the WV Lottery, the Investigator will perform full performance level work by obtaining evidence of reported fraud or violations of the rules and regulations of the WV Lottery, WV Lottery Act. May participate in investigations with state or local law enforcement. Applicants must have the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing. This position will involve direct public contact. Work may involve extensive statewide travel, during which overnight stays may be required. Employee will be on call during non-business hours. Duties include, but are not limited to the following job responsibilities: operation of a Live Scan Unit, lottery fraud investigations, theft investigations, retailer compliance inspections, background investigations of retailers, potential employees of the Lottery, vendors, manufacturers, and service technicians. The applicant may be required to deal with situations which are potentially dangerous. Preference may be given to individuals with extensive law enforcement background and knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to: Access, Excel, Word, Adobe, and Digital Security Control Point. Applicants may be subject to an extensive background investigation by the West Virginia Lottery Security Division. No person shall be appointed, employed or continue to serve in any position or employment with the Commission who has been convicted of any violation of the Lottery Law or of any felony or any crime related to theft or gambling or involving moral turpitude. The Commission shall remove or discharge any person so convicted. Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Experience, as described below, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required training.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in law enforcement or investigative work or in determining eligibility for credit, insurance or government programs.

For Lottery Only
Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid investigative, law enforcement, desktop computer, surveillance, accounting/auditing and/or business operations, lottery operations, and/or casino operations, or gaming operations experience. Preference may be shown to applicants with investigative experience in casino or gaming operations.

Special Requirements: Possession of valid West Virginia driver's license and the availability of an automobile is required. Qualification to possess and use firearms may be required.
