As part of U.S. Bancorps Corporate Risk Management and Compliance Division, the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Department assesses enterprise-wide operational risk levels and trends, determines the effectiveness of operational risk controls, and works with Business Lines (BL) on opportunities to mitigate operational risk.

The Payments Risk Management position is situated in the Enterprise Fraud and Payments Risk Management Division within ORM, a Second Line of Defense (SLoD) organization. The individual who fills this position will support the team as they work with partners throughout the SLoD, business line risk managers, and payments operations managers by quantifying payment processing risks through payments data; discover and connect data sources for assessments and monitoring; extract and analyze payments data for reporting to senior management.

The individual who fills this role will be responsible for the following activities:

Assessing and accessing the enterprise data landscape to identify data sources for reporting payments data

Constructing and maintaining the payments data taxonomy to reflect the payments data landscape

Connecting and extracting payments data for processing and analysis

Producing data-driven payments reports for senior management

Work with source system and 2LoD risk owners to produce aggregated, enterprise-wide payments risk reporting to executive management and regulatory agencies.

Track business line actions to remediate regulatory and internal audit issues.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

One to two years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

Proficient in statistical data analysis

Experience in data visualization, interrogation techniques and tools, specifically Tableau

Experience in coding language, specifically Python, R, SAS, SQL, JavaScript or C

Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Visio and PowerPoint

Experience with Archer or similar governance, risk, and compliance tool

Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills, and attention to detail

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills

Ability to work independently or with a team with minimal oversight

Awareness of appropriate styles in collaborating and communicating with senior management

  • Ability to translate payments risk data into business terminology
  • Awareness in managing payment processing risks in a financial environment.
