Staffing Pros, a division of VETS Inc., is recruiting for a full-time Risk Manager to support our client in Charlotte, NC.

The Risk Manager Is Responsible For (Though Not Limited To)

The Risk Manager will report directly to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (CECO) and is expected to independently establish work priorities and determine necessary activities in order to meet job requirements.

  • Conducting and documenting enterprise risk assessments - Employee will conduct and document an annual enterprise risk assessment to include individuals from all levels of the organization to identify actual and potential risk situations and determine potential causative factors.
  • Monitoring major and critical risk issues - Employee shall develop methods to monitor organizational risk to ensure major and critical risks are appropriately mitigated. The Risk Manager must be able to deliver expectations through a collaborative relationship with business line leaders. Advises management and administration on all potential sources of loss, and makes recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure. The employee will elevate risk issues to more senior levels when appropriate.
  • Conduct Internal Audits - The Risk Manager will identify potential areas of organizational vulnerability and risk by analyzing policies and procedures, contractual requirements (i.e. DMA, provider, vendor contracts), and regulatory requirements. The employee will be responsible for the development of the Internal Audit Plan of Work and ensure all audits are completed timely and accurately. The Risk Manager will provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Educating the workforce - The Risk Manager is responsible for raising risk awareness within operations to establish a risk-aware culture.
  • Reporting - The Risk Manager will be responsible for reporting Risk and Internal Audit metrics to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining policies/procedures related to areas of responsibility.
  • All other Duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in degree in Accounting or other business related field.
  • Professional certification such as CFE, CIA or CRM is required.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in risk management and/or internal audit is required (an equivalent combination of years of experience and education will be considered on a case by case basis and only during exceptional circumstances).
  • Excellent analysis and presentation skills. Should also have excellent report-writing skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • This position requires a high level of interpersonal skills since the individual is expected to constantly interact with department personnel throughout the organization.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to develop a broad network of internal alliances and have highly developed business skills.
  • Intimate knowledge of internal business processes and a broad understanding of the organization's industry.
  • A propensity to make prompt independent decisions based upon relevant facts and established processes.
  • Problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills are essential to balance the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Detail oriented, able to independently organize multiple tasks and priorities and to effectively manage workload under pressure of deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
  • Previous experience coordinating corporate insurance programs.
