It is becoming much more important globally to prevent identity theft, financial fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing. Our team are building best in class, scalable identity verification services that use advanced technologies to solve customer identity verification problems by leveraging both external vendors and Amazon's internal investigation tools.

What makes this space more challenging and interesting is the balance that needs to be maintained with high degree of programmatic pass-rate without compromising the protection to Amazon and Amazon's customers. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage continuous learning from manual decisions for producing ongoing enhanced precision. In 2019, the team is marching towards building a best in class programmatic identity verification service, which eventually is envisioned to be surfaced as an offering outside of Amazon.

About Amazon TRMS And The Customer Information Verification Team

The TRMS (Transaction Risk Management Systems) team has a worldwide reputation as the #1 in eCommerce Fraud, Abuse Prevention and AML. We thrive on maintaining the highest bar of customer experience while we deliver on those tenets. The Customer Information Verification Team, a group within TRMS, strives to protect Amazon businesses exposed to identity fraud by its customers while maintaining the highest level of customer experience for our good customers. This means building highly sophisticated, data-centric systems that can detect abusive patterns across Amazon's huge seller population. We build highly scalable, flexible and distributed systems that utilize the power of data at every step - compute predictive variables and plug into different pipelines to prevent abusive parties to do business with us. By leveraging the advanced technology like machine learning and the data available both internal and external to Amazon, we built the system focusing on identity verification so that we keep fast-growing on Amazon business while still being compliant. As Amazon businesses grow and abusers morph to find new ways to take undue advantage of our liberal policies, our engineers and data scientists are constantly innovating to stay ahead of the game and protect Amazon and our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 or more years’ experience in software development
  • Outstanding expertise in object-oriented design and programming.
  • A strong background in algorithms and data structures.
  • A focus on clean code and solid designs.
  • Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with large-scale multi-tiered systems and service-oriented architecture.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment
